How do I set up my tax regime and VAT?

Enter your SIRET, legal form and tax regime in Tax settings, then configure your VAT liability and default rate.

Updated on July 3, 2026

You enter your fiscal identity and VAT details from Settings > Tax settings: SIRET, company name, legal form, tax regime, then your VAT liability with its default rate. The default VAT rate also shows up on the Settings > Taxes page, where you can run the FEC export.

The SIRET (French business registration number) is optional, but if entered, it must be exactly 14 digits. Once entered, a search icon lets you query the SIRET API to auto-fill your company name, legal form, VAT number, business activity code (APE) and trade register number (RCS). This saves you from re-typing everything by hand.

If your structure is a company (SAS, SARL, EURL, SASU), VAT liability is automatically forced to "Liable" and locked: it isn't optional for these legal forms.

Configure your VAT liability

The VAT block works in two steps.

  • Liable: the VAT number, filing frequency, and default rate fields appear.
  • VAT exemption (not liable): a "Not liable" chip is shown instead, and the VAT fields disappear.

The VAT number goes through a dedicated check, with a badge whose tooltip shows the status (pending, verified, failed, or not entered).

Tax regime and fiscal year

A collapsible section lets you specify your tax regime and fiscal year. This regime determines some of your filing obligations: if you're unsure which to pick, your accountant remains the best source.

The daily closing reminder

The NF525 closing reminder is no longer a fixed time you choose: it now recalculates automatically every day, based on the end of your scheduled availability. Nothing to configure on your end here.

Enable cash payments

At the bottom of the page, a toggle enables or disables cash payments, a specific NF525 switch. It can only be turned off if no cash drawer is currently open and no cash transaction already exists in your history.

Edge cases

The SIRET shows an error. Check that it's exactly 14 digits, with no space or extra character.

I can't uncheck "Liable". That's expected for companies (SAS, SARL, EURL, SASU): this legal form requires VAT liability, so the toggle stays locked.

I can't disable cash payments. Close your cash drawer first if it's open. If cash transactions already exist in your history, disabling stays blocked to preserve NF525 consistency.

I can't find my trade name on this page anymore. That field has moved to Settings > My account.
